Meet Our Team

Dr. Joyce Heideman

Dr Joyce Heideman is a 1986 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced at the Southside location since 1987 and purchased the practice in 1991. Her practice goals are to provide quality medicine in a compassionate, family style atmosphere. Client communication and patient comfort is of the utmost importance. She looks at veterinary care as a true partnership between the owner and the veterinarian.

Dr Joyce is very involved in her community and believes a practice is only as strong as the community it serves. She has worked with the Capitol Area Humane Society and Ingham county Animal Control for over 20 years and has received many awards and recognitions from both entities. She was one of the founding members of Pawsitive Impact for Pets and has provided veterinary care and volunteered for many rescue organizations. Dr Joyce and her partner Teresa currently have 3 rescued dogs and 2 rescued turtles.

Dr. Joyce is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Veterinary Forensics to give a voice to vulnerable pets. In her spare time, Dr. Joyce volunteers for Michigan PTA, advocating for vulnerable children, as well. She has a 3 year old granddaughter named Aria.

Dr Joyce enjoys gardening, playing with or training her dogs, bonfires, cooking and studying history!

Teresa Marhofer

Teresa Marhofer has worked in the veterinary medical field for over 30 years as an assistant, groomer and hospital manager. She has partnered with Dr Joyce to bring high caliber veterinary medicine to our patients since 1991. She shares Dr Joyce’s philosophy of providing compassionate care in a family environment.

Although you will frequently see Teresa at our front desk or, talk to her on the phone, she also works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our clients and their pet’s needs are met. As a business manager, she is really the heart and the sole of the practice.

Teresa is also extremely active in Michigan PTA, and volunteers with Dr Joyce with many rescues, CAHS and ICAC. Currently, Dr Joyce and Teresa share 3 rescued dogs including her heart dog, Charlie, the blind lab. She is also a grandmother to her son’s daughter, Aria.
