Her practice goals are to provide quality medicine in a compassionate, family style atmosphere. Client communication and patient comfort is of the utmost importance. She looks at veterinary care as a true partnership between the owner and the veterinarian.
Dr Joyce is very involved in her community and believes a veterinary practice is only as strong as the community it serves. She has worked with the Capitol Area Humane Society and Ingham county Animal Control for over 30 years and has received awards and recognition from both entities. She was one of the founding members of Pawsitive Impact for Pets and has provided veterinary care and volunteered for many rescue organizations. Teresa Marhofer
Teresa Marhofer has worked in the veterinary medical field for over 30 years as an assistant, groomer and hospital manager. She attended veterinary technician school from 1984-1985 in Boise Idaho, and returned to Michigan shortly after that. She has partnered with Dr Joyce to bring high caliber veterinary medicine to our patients since 1991. She shares Dr Joyce’s philosophy of providing compassionate care in a family environment.
Although you will frequently see Teresa at our front desk or, talk to her on the phone, she also works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our clients and their pet’s needs are met. As a business manager, she is really the heart and the sole of the practice.
Teresa is also extremely active in Michigan PTA, and volunteers with Dr Joyce with many rescues, CAHS and ICAC. Currently, Dr Joyce and Teresa share 3 rescued dogs including her heart dog, Charlie, the blind lab. She is also a grandmother to her son’s daughter, Aria.
In her spare time, she enjoys planting flowers, camping, bonfires and hanging out with Charlie.

Karsyn
Veterinary Assistant
Hello my name is Karsyn! I am currently a student at MSU majoring in Zoology with hopes of entering the Vet Nursing Program. I love animals more than most things and hope to one day get to work with a multitude of different kinds. I currently have a dog and a cat, Andi and Schmidt, they are both rescues and hold a very special place in my heart! I am originally from Connecticut and came to Michigan for school, I started at Southside in February of 2022 and have since grown to love this clinic and all of its quirks. I love the people I get to work with and the clients I get to interact with. One thing I truly love about Southside is the love and encouragement that I am shown. Southside has become a home to me and I can’t wait to see what the following years bring!
